MCP has completed the first of two major projects with TT-Line Company – Spirit of Tasmania from Australia. MCP’s CYAN EV Charging System was installed on two new RoPax ferries for the Tasmanian ferry operator: Spirit of Tasmania IV, finished in 2024, and Spirit of Tasmania V, which will be completed in 2025. Both ferries are being built at Rauma Marine Constructions (RMC) in Rauma, Finland.

These 212-meter long, ultra-modern RoPax vessels have space for 3700 lane meters of passenger and freight vehicles. They will operate the route between Geelong on the Australian mainland and Devonport, Tasmania, with the journey taking between 9.5 and 11.5 hours. Now, passengers will also be able to charge their electric vehicles while onboard.

“I think this is a great product, and I believe it will become the new industry standard!” – John Anastassiou, Project Technical Manager, Spirit of Tasmania.
